I am sad today after learning that I have lost a great friend and THE VOICE of Nashville. Vern Gosdin age 74 passed midnight Tuesday and left behind many friends and family. God has taken back his child of GOD and now has him singing with the angels.

A lineup of local bands will play on two stages, one at the corner of Jackson Street and First Street; the other on Bay Street and Hendry Street. At the Bay and Hendry Street stage, The Down South Rockers (classic rock and blues) will open about 8:30 p.m. followed by the Drunk Monkeys (’80s, alternative or whatever you want them to be) a few hours later.

ST. PETERSBURG – Southern Rock’s Finest are coming to the State Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 11. Doors open at 6 p.m. The all-ages show begins at 7 p.m. Cover is $15. Southern Rocks Finest features former members of the Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, The Outlaws and Pure Prairie League.

At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, singer Brandi Thornton will open for Randy Owen, Alabama’s frontman. Owen is scheduled to sing his new solo singles along with selections from Alabama’s numerous hits.

Another big draw is the Posse, a hot-wired quintet who play reggae by that Marley guy, Third World, Sean Paul and others; soca, reggaeton and other Caribbean genres; classic soul by Marvin Gaye and others; and current pop hits by OutKast and Gnarls Barkley.

April 14, 2006—The International Fan Club Organization announced its 39th Annual Fun Fest, to be held Tuesday, June 6, at the Ryman Auditorium. On the IFCO lineup this year: headliners the Oak Ridge Boys and rising superstar group Little Big Town as well as Steve Azar, Hot Apple Pie, Megan Mullins, Rachel Proctor, Con Hunley, Keni Thomas, the Alvarado Road Show, Todd Fritsch and Rustie Blue.

Buffalo: I look forward to this every year. The annual pilgrimage from Upstate SC down to Tampa, Florida for Charlie Daniels’ three day golf and country rock concert to benefit The Angelus House, a home for the physically challenged. The event is a lot of fun and after doing it for five years it has become a big part of my life. This was the second time I drug Scott along for the event, and I have asked him to add his comments to the review as well.
