ASCAP Lawsuits Target 21 Venues In 13 States Posted: Tue., Jun. 22, 2010 06:09:12 AM MST WASHINGTON, DC (Hypebot) – As is does periodically, ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) yesterday filed 21 separate lawsuits against nightclubs, bars and restaurants in 13 states claiming infringement. According to the performing rights society, each establishment refused to obtain a license or pay the fees owed, but continued to perform ASCAP members’ music without permission. Maybe! (This is the “amazing opportunity” on Facebook that I posted about on Tuesday.)  I’ve been asked to host my own show on 1330 WNTA in Rockford, Illinois for a couple of days to see how I like it – and to see if they like me.

Many of you know me as (formerly) “Marlar in the Morning” on a different station in Rockford, but this will be a totally different animal… it’s TALK RADIO.  It’s a scary thought, and I’ve never done talk radio before in my life but I’ve always admired the guys who do it.
